Thus this commentary known as Subodini will now commence. To meet the changing times and the present necessity, yet another commentary is being presented a brief commentary called the Anuvritti.
In these seven hundred verses Krsna Dvaipayana Vyasa has written down all the verses spoken by Lord Krishna in his monumental historical epic, Mahabharata and with great attention he has at certain places put a few of the verses in narrative form to properly introduce the dialogue of Lord Krishna to Arjuna. The message of Srimad Bhagavad Gita is eternal and unchanging, but the time that surrounds us is always changing, thus our perception of life, our current situation and our necessity is also always changing. Signifying the supreme glory of this divine scripture, Sadgurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj says, 'Just as the dark, unfathomed depths of the ocean contain the most. The extremely magnanimous Supreme Lord Krishna, whose feet are always worshipable by everyone manifested Himself as the son of Devaki and Vasudev in this world for the ultimate benefit and welfare of all humanity.
